Basics of Gestalt Language and Natural Language Acquisition Therapy
During this course, participants will learn the basics of what gestalt language processing
and the natural language acquisition framework is, and how to work with students who benefit from this framework. Currently in our field, many SLPs are not familiar with gestalt language processing. This is a huge disservice to the autistic community, whom are nearly ALL gestalt language processors. Yes - research shows that at least 85% of autistic people are gestalt language processors. By learning the NLA framework, SLPs will be better equipped to assist autistic students in moving through the stages of language acquisition, from echolalia to self generated language. Video examples and case studies will be analyzed to gain deeper insight into the therapeutic process.
